About Us

Welcome to Lyng Farm

We are an ecological small holding situated in the heart of Norfolk who strive to be environmentally friendly and efficient while keeping the old ways alive.
Its not about period dress and clinging on to history however, more about learning from the roots of our crafts and proving that the traditional methods can still be profitable for smallholdings and a lot more sustainable.

On the farm we have 11 heavy horses who work the land, taking the place of the common  tractor.  They assist with all the seasonal work, including ploughing, the harvest and hay collecting. They are the quintessential back bone of the farm.
We have saw milling facilities along with a firewood processor and a fully operational work shop. We are also currently in the progress of building our first timber framed barn and putting the final touches to our ecological camping retreat.

Joe Godderidge can usually be found surveying the land or tending the horses. He has worked the farm for most of his life and is a natural horseman. He also keeps a herd of Aberdeen Angus cattle which were originally milked but now are kept for meat. When he is not over seeing the farm he can be found in a small extension to the main house, creating beautiful agricultural works of art, the likes of which words do no justice, they really have to be seen to be understood.

Joe has recently taken Mark Tasker under his wing to pass on his knowledge that he has accumulated over the years. Mark has stepped in to take over a very physical and hands-on role in the farm and managing the land back into a sustainable quality. Mark has brought with him years of knowledge as an expert forester as well as a keen eye for mechanics and an innate love and respect for horses. He has set his sharp mind to developing the smallholding further with the belief that we don't have to damage the earth to be progressive.
